Warriors at Nuggets Preview: Denver Hosts Winless Golden State at Ball Arena (8 PM MT, Peacock/NBCSN)
The Denver Nuggets (1-1) host the Golden State Warriors (0-3) tonight at Ball Arena. Tip-off is 8:00 PM MT on Peacock and NBCSN. ESPN's DraftKings line has Denver favored by 7.5, with a total of 236.5.
Our Take: Denver found something Saturday, climbing out of a 23-point hole to beat New Orleans 141-135 in overtime. Jamal Murray scored 42 and Nikola Jokic posted 35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Golden State is winless, but Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are back after sitting the second night of a back-to-back. Do not let a desperate team hang around. Defend the arc, and let Jokic run the show.
WHO'S OUT: Denver lists Cameron Johnson (right ankle sprain) and Alpha Diallo (right wrist sprain/personal) as doubtful. Spencer Jones (hamstrings) and Julian Strawther (left knee sprain) are out. Golden State has Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody and Kristaps Porzingis out. Gui Santos (left knee) is questionable, and Brandon Williams and Charles Bassey are probable, per the NBA's official injury report.
KEYS TO THE GAME:
1. Jokic's control. He is averaging 24.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 7.5 assists, per ESPN.
2. Contain Curry. He leads Golden State at 23.5 points per game.
3. Wing depth. With Johnson doubtful, Denver needs minutes from the bench.
4. Watch rookie Yaxel Lendeborg. He had 26 points, nine rebounds and six threes at Phoenix on Saturday.
